Christian Lindner served as Federal Minister of Finance of Germany from 2021 to 2024. Today, he serves on the Executive and Supervisory boards of various German and international companies.
He is one of the most prominent advocates of market-oriented policies, strong capital markets, and stability-oriented public finances. He served as a Member of Parliament for nearly 25 years. In Germany, Lindner initiated the consolidation of the Federal Budget following the COVID-19 pandemic. In the European Union, Lindner played a key role in shaping the current fiscal rules and the roadmap for the Capital Markets Union. As Chair of the G7 Finance Ministers, he played a central role in shaping the crisis response following Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Lindner studied political science and constitutional law in Bonn, worked as an entrepreneur before entering politics, and is a reserve officer in the Air Force with the rank of major. He is married and the father of a daughter.
